In Leeds, there are few clubbing brands that amount to that of Mint. Recently added to their portfolio, including 2 clubs, is Mint Festival - a one day festival featuring the best in dance and electronic music.
In Leeds, there are few clubbing brands that can amount to that of Mint. Having not only born and raised two of the best nightclubs in the city (and the UK), the brand has also organised the huge multi-stage Mint Festival since 2012. With a new location, Lincolnshire Showground, and more stages than ever before, Mint Festival 2014 is looking to be the biggest so far.
On Saturday 20th September Lincolnshire Showground will become a haven for house, techno, trance, drum & bass and more as Mint Festival occupy the surrounding fields. The one-day knees up will involve 8 arenas hosted by likes of Paradise, System, Set One Twenty, Digital Society, Bitch, Jungle Jam, Detonate, Circular, Goodgreef and more.
The first of the stages is as always to be hosted by System, however as former co-host Louche have now unfortunately left the city Set One Twenty will be filling the gap. This year they will both be joined by some favourite Mint Club bookings including Desolat frontmen Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich, whose performances in Leeds this year have been show stopping. Also joining them will be more Desolat pleasantries in the form of Guti (Live) and Robert Dietz, completed by the garage-techno fuser Joy Orbison.
More house and techno can be found next-door as Jamie Jones’ Paradise has it’s own dedicated stage for the first time in 2014. The likes of Patrick Topping, wAFF, Richy Ahmed and Art Department can be found here alongside Circo Loco star Dyed Soundorom and Jones himself who was a favourite of many who visited the festival in 2012 and 2013.
For those who are searching for harder and faster sounds, things are taken care of by the Bitch arena and the Goodgreef & Digital Society stage. These guys are the go-to people when it comes to trance, progressive and electro in the north of England and have enlisted some of the biggest names in the scene. Sander Van Doorn, Sunnery James, Norman Doray and Ryan Marciano will lead proceedings in the Bitch tent whilst trance superstar Paul Van Dyk will spearhead the latter, joined also by Lange, John 00 Fleming, Jordan Suckley and more.
Following on is the Thursday night Mint Club resident Teknicolor who will once again be hosting their stage with Leeds’ best pre party bar Distrikt. Offering another plethora of techno and house, they will be joined by the musical nuance of Visionquest (minus Troxler), the awesome Maceo Plex, who’s appearance will be only his second in the city, and Michael Mayer with more acts to be announced very soon.
Finally, the Circular and Prism tents will be giving two more servings of house, this time deeper and friendlier as they are joined by MK, Catz N Dogz, Hot Since 82, Skream, Route 94, Paul Woolford and Second City, all whom have been making waves in both charts and clubs this year.
The final stage is hosted by drum & bass dons Jungle Jam who bring seminal drum and bass producer and DJ Goldie to the festival alongside Shy FX, Ms Dynamite, Special Request, Dillinja with Stamina MC and SP MC on hosting duties.
