The Great Escape
The Great Escape Festival in Brighton celebrates music and culture with a series of events taking place in over 35 Brighton venues inviting over 400 artists to play.
All the venues are accessible with a festival wristband that gives you great flexibility so you can discover handfuls of new bands and artists before they go on to headline festivals and sell out tours around the UK and in some cases, the world.
As well as the main music festival, The Great Escape also runs a conference alongside the gigs that offers panels, debates, speeches and networking opportunities in relation to the musical action going on at the festival. Add this to the host of secret gigs, club nights, spontaneous collaborations and the Brighton Dome shows as well as the Alternative Escape and The Great Escape Festival becomes quite an experience to behold.
The Great Escape Festival has welcome a large number of talented artists since its inauguration in 2006, some of which have gone on to become huge stars. Some of The Great Escape Festival highlights include Paolo Nutini, The Pigeon Detectives, Passenger, Bombay Bicycle Club, Frightened Rabbit, Crystal Castles, Enter Shikari, Mumford & Sons, John Talabot, Groove Armada, Disclosure and London Grammar.
The venues that take part in The Great Escape Festival are the best in Brighton. The Brighton Dome is one of the biggest that holds the most popular artists who are playing throughout the day, however other bands appear through the day and evening at venues such as The Basement, The Corn Exchange, Komedia, Blind Tiger, Coalition and The Festival Hub to name just a few.
As well as the main festival, The Alternative Escape also takes place from the Wednesday to the Saturday, boasting another 200 additional artists who perform at over 15 venues including The Fishbowl, The Mucky Duck and The Tube. The Alternative Escape offers more opportunities to see the best international and local talent, as well as giving promoters, management companies and agents the chance to curate their own very special shows. The Great Escape runs from 19th-21st of May.
