From world-class acts to local celebrities, everyone's making their way to the same spot, for the same reasons and with the same positive attitude, celebrating 2 days of aural and lyrical wonders and partying away the Halloween Weekend. With a high energy line-up on Saturday, followed by a very special 1xtra Sunday Shake-down, we’re just waiting for you to come join the Carnival atmosphere! Whether you’re exploring the TWISTED TOP outdoor arena with its funfair games and urban bazaar, checking out the outdoor horror cinema, indulging in the community BBQ or just catching a mind-blowing live performance from one of our world-class artists, you’ll be glad you made your way down to the HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL WEEKENDER!

Built out of a love for raw, urban sounds and community cohesion, the Halloween Carnival Weekender is a monster hybrid: part music festival, part arts showcase, but designed to deliver 100% entertainment! With live and exclusive tour-date performances from the most acclaimed talent in the urban scene like LETHAL BIZZLE, SKEPTA and FOREIGN BEGGARS, mixed in with exclusive industry workshops from world-class artists, with a few prestigious urban competitions thrown in for good measure, the Halloween Carnival Weekender is going to be frighteningly good! This is all about nurturing, creating, and getting excited about urban music in a friendly, positive community atmosphere. .. we don’t want you to just hear urban music, we want you to live it!

Leeds Urban Festival supports the Speak to the Streets initiative (www.speaktothestreets.com), promoting urban culture as a positive tool for development and education. This event is about showcasing the potential urban culture has to effect positive changes, so 10% of profits from The Halloween Carnival Weekender will go to support the invaluable work of this project.

We’re combining forces with a host of top-class performers to hone your talents and send you home with more than just the regular festival experience. Exclusive prizes provided by Monster Energy Drink to be won.

LIVE URBAN ARENA:

LETHAL BIZZLE (Official album tour date)
From hobnobbing with the likes of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss, to beating Amy Winehouse on the NME’s cool list, and being widely recognised as the most exciting thing to emerge out of the UK music scene for some time, Lethal Bizzle is one surprising gentleman. His new album, GO HARD (produced by none other than Mark Ronson) promises his best stuff yet, bringing a fresh sound that will no doubt inspire others to follow where Lethal B. treads. This fully live, extended set is bound to be huge, so don’t miss it!

FOREIGN BEGGARS (Official album tour date)
This multi-award winning hip-hop outfit needs little in the way of introduction. Recognised as giving one of the most explosive live performances known to music, the Foreign Beggars are guaranteed to blow the Halloween crowd away. If that’s not enough, Carnival-ers have the chance to learn from the Beggars’ vast music experience in an exclusive industry workshop: they’ve worked with the likes of Bjork and Gorillaz – now they’re coming to work with you!

KILLA KELA (Official album tour date)
Considered to be one of the best beatboxers in the world, Killa Kela lives, breathes and speaks hip hop. He’s been mad on it for years, and this Halloween he’ll be bringing a full live band to give what promises to be the performance of a lifetime. And, since this is a guy who understands the building blocks of the music, he’ll be giving Carnival-ers an exclusive workshop in what it takes to be a world-class artist.

SKEPTA
One of the biggest names to emerge from the Grime scene, Skepta has come a long way since cutting his teeth with Roll Deep Crew. With the massive success of his lastest album, MICROPHONE CHAMPION, Skepta will be smashing the stage with his latest signature sounds at this exclusive, 100% live show, only at The Leeds Halloween Carnival Weekender!
