15 Years of Mint Club
15 Years of Mint Club
In the last 15 years the Mint Club has seen many changes, hosted many different club nights and undergone a huge refurbishment, but it has always retained it's reputation as one of the best underground clubs in Leeds, the North of England and more recently the world. Seminal club nights such as Back to Basics, Technique, Asylum and now System and Louche have all contributed to the club's overwhelming success under the watchful eye of Valerie Rose and, in the last five years, Shane Graham, helping to create a first-class venue at the hub of the underground, electronic community in Leeds. The Mint Club has received several awards, including the DJ Mag Best of British Award in 2010, and has won accolades amongst performers with many top DJs citing the Mint Club as their favourite place to play in the world. But the club's success can really be attributed to everyone that has partied with us over the last 15 years and helped to make it the special venue that it is today. Fifteen years in business is an impressive milestone to reach in anyone's book so naturally we'll be throwing an impressive party to celebrate!
The brilliantly eccentric and outstandingly talented Seth Troxler's DJ career started back in 2002 at the tender age of 16 where he span regularly at Detroit club The Works alongside pedalling records at Detroit's famous Melodies and Memories store. With these experiences Seth gained a great understanding of rave and dance music history. After relocating to Berlin Seth released some of the world's finest and most intuitive dance cuts, including releases and remixes on Spectral, Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels, M_nus, Bpitch Control and Esperanza, some of which featured on prestigious mix series including Audion's Fabric mix and Circo Loco and Get Physical compilations. Seth's unique and fresh approach to modern electronic music has captivated the most respected dance floors in the world including Panoramabar, Rex Club and Fuse and his famously outlandish personality coupled with his intuitive approach to music selection and mixing have won him enormous amounts of respect and fans alike. Seth was invited by Pete Tong to deliver an Essential Mix for BBC Radio One and in 2012 topped the Resident Adivsor's Top 100 DJ list. More recently Seth was invited by Richie Hawtin to join his "CNTRL Beyond EDM" tour. His "Visionquest" project alongside Detroit cohorts Lee Curtiss, Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson is ever growing with a Fabric mix delivered back in December 2011 and sell-out shows at all over the globe.
Born and raised in Berlin but now living in London, Carsten Klemann started DJing around 1999. After playing various kinds of music he finally found his way to techno and house. Carsten is a DJ in it's purest form and is most known of his long sets, while maintaining a low profile. Indeed Carsten has had long-standing residencies at Watergate, Panoramabar, Cookies, Paris-Paris and T-Bar London. He also worked under Basic Channel at Legendary Mastering Studio Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin. On the production front Carsten has contributed to Nick Höppner and Lee Jones' My My project and also collaborated with Carsten Jost to produce "Detroit" as CC01 on Dial. We are delighted to give Carsten his Mint Club debut on this very special evening.
