Queen Extravaganza at O2 Academy Leeds Tickets
The bombastic Queen Extravaganza is to hit Leeds this September. Masterminded by Queen’s Roger Taylor and Brian May, The Queen Extravaganza is a show specially designed to celebrate the iconic band’s music in the most spectacular way possible. Set to bring their breathtaking show to the o2 Academy on 16th September, the five-piece band was put together by guitarist May, drummer Taylor and long-time Queen keyboardist Spike Edney. On stage, amidst heart-stopping visuals and effects, they rip through more than 20 classic Queen hits.
The Queen Extravaganza band was assembled following an extensive talent search. Comprising Marc Martel (vocals), Brian Gesh (guitar), Francois-Olivier Doyon (bass), Tyler Warren (drums) and Brandon Ethridge (keyboard), the band have garnered rave reviews for their performances so far. Taylor himself says of the Queen Extravaganza players: “This band is now so frighteningly good, I would hate to have to follow them onstage.”
Fans can expect an explosive 90-minute setlist drawn from Queen’s extensive back catalogue. Smash singles ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ are nestled in amongst other highlights including ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’, ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Somebody To Love’. Video footage from Queen’s archive is interspersed with brand new imagery created especially for the show.
The talent search for The Queen Extravaganza band was conducted online and culminated with the group performing on American Idol in 2012. The first Queen Extravaganza tour was announced in March that year. The huge run of American dates was a huge success and a second tour of the United States and Canada was announced in October. The tour hit the UK and Europe in 2013, to rave reviews.
Queen remain a phenomenon more than 30 years after they formed. The We Will Rock You Musical and the Queen Extravaganza tour exist simultaneously with the band, who will release a new album called ‘Queen Forever’ later this year. Satisfying Queen fans is no easy task, which makes the outstanding success of The Queen Extravaganza impressive. Based around a band travelling the world in much the same way their predecessors did in their heyday, the tour offers a studied take on the Queen live experience. Taylor and May’s keen involvement in The Queen Extravaganza ensures that no note, costume or explosion is out of place. They want as many people as possible to celebrate their history and this tour is the perfect way to do so.
