KANT - (Suara, Kitball, Katermukke/Copenhagen)

KANT – That means “edge” in Danish. And edge basically refers to something unconventional, exciting and new, which doesn’t immediately fit in and is somehow different. Exactly, this characteristic is reflected in the music of Denmark’s fastest growing newcomer. Although, he is quite new to the scene his sounds convince the listener by skillfully playing with a variety of elements. The music he produces is fresh, creative and exciting – flowing transitions, soulful vocals and piano riffs to a pulsating baseline and hard drums are his trademarks. A look in his bag reveals delicacies ranging from quiet laid back to arousing sounds full of energy and exuberance! Internationally, KANT has made big waves in 2014 with a worldwide touring schedule, multiple chart topping releases and heavy radio support from BBC Radio 1 incl. Pete Tong, Annie Mac, and Danny Howard. Aside from his original productions his remix abilities have stirred up the interest of major labels across the globe to rework the tracks of international acts such as MØ, Thomas Azier, Klingande or Tomas Barfod.

Kyodai (Live set) – (Exploited/Berlin)

Kyodai means “brothers” in Japanese and that’s a good clue for guessing who's behind these two heads. The producers based in Berlin are known under a variety of different names! A duo that gained respect from musical heavy weights like Masters At Work, Jimpster, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Trüby, and they regularly release under a variety of different names for labels such as Compost, Odori, Om, Lovemonk. Kyodai have had a strong run of releases since their debut here on Freerange Records last year. Their “Mi Rumba EP” must have impressed a lot of people as they went on to release a follow up EP for Mad Mats blossoming Local Talk label with “Breaking EP”, supported by top names, until reaching the top list of the Gilles Peterson’s “An All Winners Show”, and also have an EP due on Pokerflat called “Never Know”. Kerri Chandler dug it enough to include on his RA podcast and it was also picked up for the Cielo Compilation on Nervous, resulting in many requests for remixes and productions that are already due to be released this fall.

Fennec & Wolf (Kallias, Bunny Tiger/Cologne)

Fennec & Wolf is a project of the Cologne-based DJ Mourad Kehailia, who is following his citys techno tradition with his fresh and powerful sounds. He doesn’t simply ruminate the Rheinish techno establishment - with his sound he’s chosen a different path. A path that makes his music stand out as something unique. Stripped down to it’s essentials, it excels at one of electronic music’s prime functions: to make people dance. Where other producers start getting dodgy and lose themselves in sound patterns that appear more like mathematical equations, Fennec & Wolf focus on what he loves most about electronic music: letting those beats sprawl all over the urban dance floors and creating an atmosphere where we can forget everything else around ourselves. His recipe is straight forward: putting all the joy and affection he has for electronic music into his productions and sets, using clean rhythms and driving house sounds. The result creates a constant high among their audiences - something that one would not expect to find in conventional club music. “This should be played at high volume”, says the intro of the Fennec & Wolf track “Losmachen” - a claim that couldn’t be more true for his music.
