Bunga Bunga Weekender
Bunga’s back. The past few have been such fun we had a thought.. why not make a weekend of it? A couple of days of relentless Bunga-ing, twice as many nights, twice as many artists.
So, without further ado, here’s who’ll be joining us;
MJ COLE [PROLIFIC] (Friday)
MJ Cole is perhaps one of the most influential British producers over the past decade and more. The man behind seminal hits such as Sincere, an era-defining single that was both one of the biggest influences on 21st century British dance music. MJ Cole went on to sign to Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud label where he put out Sincere the album; one of – if not the – defining garage full-length, and one that spawned the massive single ‘Crazy Love’. It was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
DEADBOY [NUMBERS] (Friday)
You could describe Deadboy’s music as heartache for the dancefloor. Tapping into London’s rich musical heritage from Scott Walker to early 90’s Hardcore all the way through to UK Garage and House, Deadboy’s tracks somehow still share the same sense of futuristic melancholia as the first wave of Detroit Techno by the likes of Derrick May and Juan Atkins. Deadboy’s DJ sets could be one end of the spectrum or another. One thing is certain though, it’ll be bloody good.
ARP 101 [EGLO] (Friday)
ARP 101 is the moniker of laser guided funk electronic London producer Alix Perez.
Ever since releasing his critically acclaimed debut on Alex Nut and Floating Point’s Eglo imprint, it has been nothing but exponential growth for the innovative beat maker.
Fresh off the back of an Australian tour with luminaries such as Flying Lotus, Mark Pritchard and Martyn, 2013 looks to be a busy year for all things ARP.
