Barenaked Ladies is the Canadian rock bank that has just released their 12th studio album Silverball. Produced by Gavin Brown, who has also worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Metric and Billy Talent, Silverball is a 13 track LP that adds to the already mountainous discography released by the band that formed back in 1988.
The album’s lead single Say What You Want, will be performed alongside a number of other new tracks that have been said by frontman Robertson to hold a “lot of energy”, however this will not deter the band from performing all time classics such as One Week, Pinch Me and If I Had $1,000,000.
Throughout their active years, Barenaked Ladies have been nominated for a mountain of awards that includes 2 Grammys and several Juno Awards, with the band winning accolades by Juno, Billboard and The World Music Awards for Album of The Year for Gordon, Group Of The Year and Single Of The Year for Enid, demonstrating how strong the band’s back catalogue is.
Amongst the Barenaked Ladies fans is Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles, who has said that the band have harmonies that are “right on” and a range that he could never have.
Barenaked Ladies have already embarked on their Silverball tour, kicking off the journey on the day of release, with a string of Canadian dates taking place throughout the next 2 months. The UK leg of the tour will take place in September with the band visiting Manchester’s The Ritz on Wednesday the 30th of September.
Digbeth’s The Institute is one of Birmingham’s most popular music venues, originally built as a church during the onset of the 1900’s. After a period of being used as a civic hall, The Institute was born, which is now one of the most iconic venues in the city, playing host to music legends such as The Arctic Monkeys, The Human League and The Cure as well as being the original home of trance institution Godskitchen.
