The unmistakable dance music duo that is Basement Jaxx will be embarking on a newly announced UK tour this winter after the release of their new album ‘Junto’ that is scheduled for August 25th. The tour will be stopping at several venues around the United Kingdom including a number of O2 Academies, The Plymouth Pavilions and The Cambridge Corn Exchange. The tour will be stopping at Newcastle’s O2 Academy on the 5th December.
Regularly donning a superb amount of colour and energy in their live shows, Basement Jaxx have reserved themselves as one of the most exciting live music acts to witness, managing to be a revered name in the underground scene as well in commercial charts all over the globe. Singles like ‘Do Your Thing’ and Oh My Gosh’ have past been huge chart hits whilst at the same time, tracks such as ‘Flylife Xtra’ have been just as hard hitting underground anthems that have been championed by the likes of Dyed Soundorom and Matthias Tanzmann.
Uplifting lyrics and South American pizzazz are common elements in Basement Jaxx’s musical material that has helped them win awards like their 2 BRIT Awards for “best Dance Act’ in both 2004 and 2002. Early albums like Remedy and Rooty were the stages for massive selling singles like ‘Red Alert’ and ‘Where’s Your Head At?’, tracks that were also used on television as well as in film soundtracks. In more recent years the duo have also reached high positions in the charts with singles like ‘Raindrops’ and were also recruited to produce the film score for the feature film ‘Attack The Block’.
Looking away from Basement Jaxx’s original material, the pair also have a lengthy remix roster, as they have been employed to remix the likes of Justin Timberlake, N*E*R*D, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Missy Elliot. Their remixes and own material have been provokers of dance floor chaos all over the world, and on the 5th of December The O2 Academy Newcastle will be sub coming to their irresistible rhythm.
