Basement Jaxx have just announced a series of UK tour dates that will be taking place across November and December of this year. The tour comes in time with their new album ‘Junto’ that is scheduled for release on August 25th. December the 4th will see the group landing in Sheffield to play the O2 Academy.
Basement Jaxx have been at the forefront of the dance music scene for a number of years, whilst also being heralded as one of todays most exciting music acts, never failing to bring bucket loads of colour and energy to the stage. Many of the duos releases are loved by a wide variety of music lovers, with singles such as ‘Oh My Gosh’ and ‘Do Your Thing’ becoming radio favourites and chart topping hits, whilst the underground population have long favourited ‘Flylife Xtra’.
Basement Jaxx have won many awards for their music that is regularly infected with uplifting lyrics and plenty of South American flare. These include 2 BRIT awards for being the Best Dance Act in both 2004 and 2002. The pairs earliest albums ‘Rooty’ and ‘Remedy’ don the well known hits ‘Red Alert’ and ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ both of which were used in film soundtracks and TV adverts. Looking at Basement Jaxx’s more recent material, they have managed to stay in touch with musical trends as tracks like ‘Raindrops’ also made a big impact on the singles charts, whilst they were also employed to do the score for the comic sci-fi thriller ‘Attack The Block’ in 2011.
As well as producing their own EP’s, Basement Jaxx can also be seen as talented remixers, with a history remixing the likes of N*E*R*D, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Missy Elliot and Justin Timberlake to name just a few. Jaxx’s tracks have been tried and tested on many of the worlds best dance floors and at many a festival. This includes the groups performance at Glastonbury on The Pyramid Stage, which comes not so long before this date that will be Sheffield’s O2 Academy go crazy.
