Plus The Dough Rollers
Billy Idol will be playing a special date at London’s Eventim Hammersmith Apollo on November the 9th as part of his European tour that will see him travelling from his 3 dates in the UK to Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands before finishing the tour in Italy. This series of performances comes shortly after the release of Billy Idols new album and biography ‘Dancing With Myself’, the latter of which is due to be released on the 7th of October.
Billy Idol rose to fame after moving to New York in 1981 after leaving the band Generation X in which Idol first started drawing attention. This group whom Idol spent the first years of his musical career with were one of the first punk bands that appeared on the BBC’s music programme Top Of The Pops. After going solo, Idol released a string of albums and singles, really taking off after the release of his second album ‘Rebel Yell’. This LP contained the hit singles ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘Flesh For Fantasy and ‘Eyes Without A Face’, which won Idol an MTV Video Music Award for the video’s editing. Some of these tracks were also used in the Hollywood blockbuster Big, the feature film released in 1988 that starred Tom Hanks. Idol was nominated for a number of other awards including three Grammy awards for his vocal work and 9 further MTV Video Music Awards. He also won a BRIT Award for Best British Video in 1991. Altogether, it cannot be denied that Billy Idol still remains to this day as one of the most iconic rock ‘n’ roll performers of today, from back in his early days as one of the first to sport the punk rock style and sound.
On November the 9th, The Eventim Hammersmith Apollo in London will play host to Idol’s energy and charisma, with plenty of his classic tracks together with other new material that we await in his new album.
