Clean Bandit - Cardiff - Information

Chart-topping indie electro band Clean Bandit have confirmed details of a run of autumn gigs. The Cambridge four-piece will kick off the tour at Norwich's UEA on 20th October. Clean Bandit will then play Birmingham's o2 Academy (22nd), the o2 Academy Bristol (23rd) and Cardiff's Great Hall (25th) before the dates end at Bexhill's De La Warr Pavillion on 28th.

Clean Bandit's delayed debut album 'New Eyes' was released earlier this summer (30th May). The album includes 'Rather Be', which became the band's first number one single in January this year. The song features vocals from Jess Glynne and is the fastest selling song of 2014 so far, shifting over 930,000 copies to date. It was the fourth single taken from the album, following 'A+E', 'Mozart's House', 'Dust Clears' and 'Extraordinary'.

Known for splicing pop, house and classical music, Clean Bandit formed while studying at Cambridge University. Cellist Grace Chatto was playing in a string quartet at the time and bassist/saxophonist/keyboard player Jack Patterson began to remix their recordings with electronic music. They added drummer Luke Patterson and strings player Milan Neil Amin-Smith and Clean Bandit was formed. The name comes from a Russian translation for a phrase that means 'utter rascal'.

'A+E' became the band's first single in December 2012 and was swiftly followed by a video for 'UK Shanty' which featured model Lily Cole, a friend of the band's from Cambridge. Their first venture into the charts came with 'Mozart's House' in 2013, paving the way for 'Rather Be'. The band toured extensively in the build up to their album's release and have appeared on BBC's Later... With Jools Holland. Their live performance has grown into a dancefloor ready blend euphoric strings undercut by house-influenced beats, these shows are not to be missed.
