Courtney Barnett + Big Scary
Courtney Barnett may have only been on our radios and televisions since 2013, however the Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist has been praised by some of the highest musical institutions there is, with both Rolling Stone and The New York Times naming her as one of the standout performers at The CMJ Music Marathon, the event at which Barnett first starting turning heads.
Courtney’s debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit was released in March of this year and received widespread critical acclaim, gaining 4 and 5 star reviews from The Guardian, The Independent, Rolling Stone and NME amongst others. The LP topped the charts in 4 separate US Music rundowns as well as reaching the number 16 spot on the UK Album Chart, with the singles Pedestrian at Best and Depreston becoming some of the most well known.
From playing in a number of Australian grunge and country bands to releasing her first solo studio album, Courtney Barnett has come on leaps and bounds, even launching her own label Milk! Records in the process. With several awards now under her belt, including Pitchfork’s ‘Best New Track’ and nominations for Song of The Year, her first headline tour promises to be rather spectacular.
The 2015 tour, which is already underway in Courtney’s home country of Australia, will be visiting the US and Central Europe before coming over to the UK in November, when she will play a number of dates in London, Wolverhampton and in Manchester on Monday the 30th of November at O2 Ritz.
