Dazed & Confused w/ Adam Shelton & Annie Errez
The days are getting longer, and the weathers getting better, and so our are line up, to kick of the summer we've got One Records boss Adam Shelton and System resident Annie Errez.
Nourishing a vinyl addiction for just over 18 years, Birmingham bred Adam Shelton is widely known on the underground scene as a real DJ’s DJ whose dedicated passion, technique and track selection are second to none.
Thriving on raw, quality house music, the energy and vibe of Adam’s DJ style needs to be experienced to be believed, influenced by his love for early US and Acid house and inspired by trips to electronic meccas such Robert Johnson and Body & Soul. His talents have seen him grace the decks at some of the most influential clubs and parties around the world including Panorama Bar, fabric London, Glastonbury, Space in Ibiza, numerous Cocoon and Circoloco events and of course, his own truly legendary Below parties, founded in 2005.
Not only a master behind the decks, the past year has seen Adam capture his production style, influenced by legends such as Derrick Carter, Larry Heard, Mood II Swing, Masters At Work, Francois K and Daft Punk. His remix of one of the biggest tracks of 2013, Ben Pearce’s ‘What I Might Do,’ was released on the huge MTA Records with smashing results. Adopting a raw and retro -funk sound, Adam also produces under his S.A.S moniker alongside partner in crime and Crosstown Rebels star Subb-an, producing monumental re -works of classics ‘At The Candy Store’ and ‘House Nation’; there’s no doubt this is a project that will continue to bubble under the surface for all those in the know.
With releases already appearing on highly respected labels like Visionquest, Illusion Recordings, Catwash Records, 2020 Vision and of course his own One Records imprint, and with further EP’s due on Haus Wax and Back To You Records, it’s safe to say Adam’s career will continue to soar in 2014.
During it’s relatively short life span, One Records – founded in 2009 alongside fellow Below resident Subb-an - has become one of the most exciting underground house labels of recent times. As well as signing music from artists including Kris Wadsworth, Dan Ghenacia, Burnski, Alex Arnout, DJ W!ld, Shaun Reeves, The Martinez Brothers, Matthew Styles, jef k, Jordan Peak and H Foundation, the label acts as a breeding ground for numerous up and coming producers such as Samu.l, John Dimas, Jack Wickham and Yamen and EDA.
One Records label parties can be seen regularly at a growing number of top clubs including Watergate, fabric, Rex Club, Bob Beaman, Back to Basics and Hideout Festival; with such bourgeoning young talent it’s evident that the best times are yet to come for this crew.
Already an artist with such strong definitions of personal style, recognition for Adam continues to climb, ensuring that recognition on a worldwide level is truly imminent.
After a few visits to clubs and parties in the North of England sparked her interest in electronic music at the turn of the millennium Annie became an avid record collector and has since devoted most of her time to just that – collecting and exploring the world of electronic music.
Following guest spots at various clubs in the UK, Annie became a resident DJ at the Mint Club Leeds, in 2008, where she has since cultivated her own style and sound and, more importantly, learned the craft of the warm up DJ. Here she has been fortunate enough to share the decks with some of the best in the business and credits the Mint Club with developing her confidence and knowledge as a DJ. In the last few years invitations to play further afield at venues across Europe have since followed including Berlin's Chalet Club, the Illusion Records Sonar Party and Below at the Rainbow in Birmingham. Recently listed in FACT Magazine's Top 100 most underrated DJs, it is Annie's knowledge, commitment and genuine passion towards music that have quietly earned her the respect of the underground community.
Like many of today’s artists Annie arrived at music production via several years of buying, playing and studying the records in her collection and slowly started to experiment on various pieces of hardware and software that she also began to collect. Her first releases appeared in 2013 on UK house labels Saints & Sonnets and Holic Trax, as well as an EP on her own Strobewax label which she co-runs with Mint Club resident Bobby O’Donnell. Shortly afterwards Annie was welcomed into Steve O’Sullivan’s coveted Mosaic Split Series with a release in the summer of 2014.
