South African rap-rave collective Die Antwoord is a group of musicians who formed in Cape Town in 2008. Known mostly for their 2009 hit ‘Enter The Ninja’ that peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart, they are a trio of zefs, which is a subculture movement originating from their home country. Die Antwoord now has 3 studio albums, the most recent of which was released back in June. Titled ‘Donker Mag’, this was their most successful album yet as it climbed to the top of the US Dance chart.
With several years of experience now behind them, and appearances at Reading and Leeds amongst a plethora of other festivals, rappers Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er with DJ Hi-Tek are now embarking on a world tour that will see the group performing in Russia, Germany, Belgium, France and at four dates in the UK that begins with Glasgow’s ABC on January 14th. After their first gig they will be making their way further south to play at The Institute in Birmingham before continuing to Manchester and London.
Birmingham’s The Institute is one of the most popular live music venues in the city, with regular performances from many world renowned acts as well a several club nights run for both students and fans of the underground.
