The notorious street performer DUB FX will be jetting over to the UK during Spring next year to perform a number of shows, demonstrating his skills that have made him one of the most popular street artists in Australia, both in his home town Melbourne and all over the country.
DUB FX’s shows integrate a number of musical styles from reggae to jungle and hip-hop to drum & bass, however they are not conveyed in your usual mixing from track to track style that we are most adhered to seeing and hearing. Instead, DUB FX creates his own arrangements by using loopers and effects pedals to create his own rhythms that build drop, twist and turn as he wants them to.
Armed with a Boss effects pedal, a SYB-5 synth, a DR-880 drum machine, a Boss Loop station and a Rhode microphone, DUB FX can create a whirlwind of sounds that he combines with his voice and the synthesiser, which he then manipulates in ways you must see to believe. After getting a rhythm together using his feet, he will rap and sing all whilst continuously evolving the sound he started with, even the depth and sound of his voice, making his one man show as powerful as something four people could put together.
After touring around South America and the rest of Europe, DUB FX will land in the UK at the end of April, before playing this single date at Birmingham’s The Institute on the 2nd of May. As he is only playing 5 UK dates during this world tour, it is a rare and great chance to see a street performance of this calibre in a venue as iconic as this.
