Gramatik at the Forum, London
Plus Big Gigantic, Russ Liquid, Gibbz, Andrew Block and ODJBOX
Electronic artist Gramatik will be playing a special one night only show at The Forum in London on Saturday the 13th of December as part of his current world tour that includes multiple dates in Denmark, Germany, France and a whole host of US states. Having been producing hip-hop style beats from the age of thirteen, he began sharing his tracks through the online music store Beatport, which was Gramatik’s gateway to becoming an established electronic music artist in both the US and Europe.
After moving to New York, he released his first album in 2008, which was a compilation on hip-hop beats, and was consequently charted on the Top 100 Chill Out Chart for six months. A year after his first album was releases, Gramatik singed with the label Pretty Lights, that was made up solely of artist Derek Smith, who’s stage name was the same as the labels. The label is one of the few on the underground circuit that gives all their music away for free, and as Gramatik’s philosophy stands by “freeing music by making music free”, this label tied in well with his opinions. Last year, Gramatik left the Pretty Lights label to start his own named Lowtemp, which now consists of artists like Exmag and Gibbz.
Three of Gramatik’s tracks have been awarded ‘Best Track’ awards at the Beatport Music Awards, and at the same ceremony he was also nominated for ‘Best Chill Out Artist’. His sound is a pleasant combination of cut up samples, atmospheric synths and beats that plod along in a seriously cool manner. Joining Gramatik will be a number of surprise guests who are yet to be announced.
