Academy Events Presents Hawklords at the O2 Academy Liverpool
Plus Special Guests
Back in 1978, the Hawklords first formed out of the joining of local Devon band Ark and the disbanded group Hawkwind, who together released one studio album in the same year entitled ’25 Years On’. The album was very outspoken on a number of topics that included sky diving, telepathy, drug misuse and espionage amongst other things, offering spaced out rock as the soundtrack to these addressed issues.
Almost 40 years later, the Hawklords are reformed, with the line up presently consisting of Ron Tree, Adrian Shaw, Jerry Richards, Dave Pearce, Steve Swindells and Harvey Bainbridge, who together have continued the bands name on, this year embarking on a UK tour stopping in Leeds, Glasgow, Nottingham and Bristol as well as this night at Liverpool’s O2 Academy on Friday October the 17th.
With the reform came a new album in 2012 named ‘We Are One’, which has inspired this tour around Britain, during which the band will be performing classic Hawk tracks with new unheard material. ‘We Are One’ is a lengthy, revved up biker style album that touches on the spaced out sounds we could also hear in ‘25 Years On’, showing they have stayed true to their original sound. Highlights include “Time Split Vision” and “Mothership”, both of which are more geared towards spacy production, while “Event Horizon” goes mellow, offering a more introspective side to Hawklords.
