US R&B and soul singer Keith Sweat was born in the New York suburb of Harlem and began life as a hairdresser whilst singing as night clubs throughout the Big Apple until he was offered his first contract with Elektra Records in 1987.
Fast-forward to today and Keith Sweat is not only an innovator of the New Jack Swing genre, he is also the owner of the record label Keia Entertainment and the name behind a shed load of well known solo records, not to mention being part of several earlier projects including the band Jamilah.
All of Keith’s studio albums, which were released between Make It Last Forever in 1987 and Til The Morning in 2011, have charted amongst the Top 10 in the US, with 6 of them reachink the top spot and going Platinum. Britons have also been huge fans of the American as these same albums have all been in similar chart positions as the were in the US, with the singles I’ll Give All My Love To You, Make It Last Forever and Twisted being some of the most popular.
Keith Sweat’s newest album The Sweat Hotel has led the star to embark on a world tour that will see him visit a number of American states before coming over to the UK in October when he will be playing at Birmingham’s The Institute on the 10th.
