LIF - Forks Over Knives film screening with nutritionist talk and Q&A
LIF16 - Forks Over Knives film screening
Forks Over Knives is a film that explores the possibility that by changing from an animal-based to a plant-based diet, people can help eliminate or control diseases like cancer and diabetes.
Obesity and diabetes are on the rise, major medical operations have become routine and even though billions are spent fighting degenerative diseases each year, they continue to increase around the world. Could there be a single solution to all of these problems, could actually it be as simple as a change in diet? This film examines the claim that by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods, many degenerative diseases can be controlled, or even reversed.
The film will be followed by a short talk and Q&A with Laura Thomas, a registered nutritionist with a PhD in Nutritional Science and blogger for the Huffington Post. She specialises in evidence driven, plant based nutrition.
Headingley Heart centre is a community-run project, the café bar will be serving their own range of healthy and freshly-made food before the film. Drinks can be purchased throughout the evening.
