LIF - GMO OMG film screening at Wharf Chambers
LIF16 - GMO OMG film screening
"Filmmaker and concerned father Jeremy Seifert goes on a road trip to investigate the origins of everyday seeds and the increasing use of GMOs in farming. In his last film Dive! Jeremy Seifert showed us the scale of the waste problem in industrialised food production, now with this new film he tackles the monopolised and mono-cultural systems of agriculture and the political lobbying power of giants like Monsanto. The film's USA perspective makes for an unsettling experience, particularly regarding labelling law differences between the States and other parts of the world, including Europe. It depicts angry reaction from farmers against the introduction of hybrid seeds into communities that still use traditional farming methods. The film raises questions that we'd all like answers to: how are genetically modified organisms (GMOs) affecting our health, our planet, and our freedom of choice? Is it still possible to reject this development in food systems or have we already lost something we can’t get back? Wharf Chambers is run as a members' club and you need to be a member, or guest of a member, in order to attend. To join, please visit wharfchambers.org. Membership costs £1 and requires a minimum of 48 hours to take effect."
