London based DJ and producer Kiwi, aka Alex Warren, stepped back into the spotlight in 2017 with the release of his ‘Orca’ EP on Bristol’s Futureboogie imprint. Notably A side ‘Orca’ went on to claim rave reviews by Mixmag and topped the dance charts on Juno and Beatport for 7 weeks. Kiwi followed this up with releases on Dusky’s 17 steps, earning acclaim from the likes of DJ Harvey and Gerd Janson and a vinyl only 12” alongside Joakim on Life and Death. Whilst busy in the studio Kiwi was also busy on the road, touring Asia (twice), North America, a busy festival period, including Glastonbury whilst still holding it down at his residency at XOYO in London and the touring the rest of Europe. Kiwi has earnt a reputation for his long winding all night long DJ sets often genre hopping from Balearic, Disco, House to Detroit-Techno and everything in between and earning support from Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Rob da Bank, Annie Mac and Skream amongst others.
Over the following years Kiwi has refined his sound, releasing the ‘Animals EP’ to much acclaim, with remixes by Horse Meat Disco, Man Power, Brassica and Mark E. He released ‘Cormorant’ on Correspondent, and the much sought after disco cover of Carmens ‘Throwdown’ on Optimo music, which warranted a 10/10 review in DJ Mag. 2018 saw Kiwi have a string of releases namely his latest Oooh EP on Dusky’s 17 Steps, Pine Marten on Moscoman’s highly acclaimed Disco Halal, plus releases on Correspondent, Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin, and Toy Tonic.
