Canadian singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist Mac DeMarco broke through into the musical mainstream through the release of his ‘Rock and Roll Nightclub’ EP that was released back in 2012. The label it was signed to were so impressed they agreed to release a full length album, which was released a year later, receiving widespread acclaim and gaining him a ‘Best New Music’ accolade from Pitchfork Media.
Following this, DeMarco went on to release his second album ‘Salad Days’, in April last year’, which again received the same nod from Pitchfork Media, aside from a number of other good reviews. At the beginning of the month, Mac DeMarco announced that his third artists album is in production, due for release in August, which has followed rumours that he has been collaborating with Tyler The Creator amongst others.
Donning a unique style that pulls together glam inspired guitar hooks and jazzy rhythm, his music is very difficult to place in the music spectrum, as it also draws aspects of psychedelia, folk, R&B, rock and pop into one neat little package, always dotted with off colour jokes and sometimes some lewdness and generally “getting loose and goofy”, helping audiences to have a “funkier time”, those being, his own words.
