Mark Morriss (Bluetones) at Arts Club - Liverpool
English singer songwriter Mark Morris is the solo effort of The Bluetones former singer, who split from the band in 2011 following the bands farewell tour. Now releasing material on his own he will be touring the UK and showing us what he can do when he is going solo.
As the lead singer of The Bluetones Mark scored a total of thirteen UK top 40 singles, with three of their LPs also reaching the Top 10 in Britain. Their most popular releases include ‘Slight Return’, ‘Sleazy Bed Track’ and ‘Cut Some Rug’, all three of which were released during the bands hey day in the mid to late 1990’s. Their debut album ‘Expecting to Fly’, which hit the shelves in 1996 was a huge hit and hit the top spot in the album charts. This album also spearheaded the two top 10 singes, which were mentioned earlier.
Since the split from the band, Mark released his debut solo album in May 2008, which proved gentle and folk-tinged, an instant hit with fans of the band. After a number of performances at festivals all over the country that included a headline performance at Suffolk’s LeeStock Music Festival, Morris released his second solo album ‘A Flash Of Darkness’, aside from also being a full member in Matt Berry’s band, The Maypoles.
