Wednesday the 22nd of October will see R&B star Maverick Sabre descending upon The Ritz In Manchester to provide us with a night of his music, whilst playing alongside a series of special guests who are yet to be announced.
Hailing for Hackney in London, Maverick Sabre AKA Michael Stafford started drawing attention to himself in 2008 when appearing on two tracks on the album ‘Sense The Terror’, by rap artists Terawrizt and Nu-Centz. This was followed by a number of collaborations with the likes of Johnnyboy, Intox, Jermicide and Danny Digg to name just a few. Sabre’s most prominent breakthrough tracks however were with drum & bass dons Chase & Status and Professor Green, who’s track ‘Jungle’ that featured Maverick Sabre’s lyrics peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart.
As part of Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 Comic Relief show, Maverick Sabre performed a cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ that was extremely well received, after which his extended player ‘The Lost Words’ climber to number 2 on the iTunes chart. ‘Let Me Go’ was the first single that Maverick released after becoming well known all around the UK and beyond. This single debuted at number 16 and was followed by many other singles that also did very well. This year the tracks ‘Breathe’ and ‘Emotion’ have all surfaced as music videos, and a new album is on the horizon.
The Ritz has long been one of Manchester’s most iconic live music and clubbing venues since its £2 million refurbishment in recent years. With regular club nights and performances by many of the worlds top live music acts, here will provide be a great opportunity to see Maverick Sabre in action.
