+ Courtney Barnett and NZCA/LINES
On Friday the 5th of December, Alexandra Palace will play host to Metronomy for one night only, also welcoming Courtney Barnett as support.
Forming in 1999, Metronomy are a four-piece band who are known for their experimental and instrumental electronic music as well as their more recent electro pop numbers that have surfaced on their newer albums. Together, Joseph Mount, Anna Prior, Oscar Cash and Gbenga Adelekan make up Metronomy, and as one have released four original studio albums, the last of which was released in March of this year entitled ‘Love Letters’. Their third album ‘The English Riviera’ was met with huge acclaim and reached silver certification, however as the newest long player reached much higher positions in the album charts, this could reach even higher over the coming months.
Metronomy are also accomplished remixers, as they have released reworks of artists like Roots Manuva, Goldfrapp, Ladytron, Gorillaz and Klaxons to name just a few. Over the years the group have embarked on many UK and European tours supporting the likes of Coldplay, CSS, Justice and Bloc Party. This hasn’t been the limit of their travels however as the band have also played multiple gigs in America and Canada.
Alexandra Palace is one of the most historic music venues in the capital, originally opening in 1873 and hosting many high profile events and guests over the length it has been in action. Events include The BRIT Awards, The Great British Beer Festival and The Masters snooker tournament that is still held here today. Musical performances have also been seen from some of the world most famous bands and solo artists including Pink Floyd, Savoy Brown, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Paul Weller and The Strokes.
