Yr Ods sy bellach yn dathlu rhyddhau eu hail albwm Llithro gyda chyngherddau o gwmpas Cymru …a Llundain! Ar ôl chwarae yn Ngwyl y Dyn Gwyrdd a Gwyl Rhif 6 cewch y cyfle i'w fwynhau eu doniau ac i brynnu copi or record wych ar finyl yn The George Tavern.
Yr Ods are a five-piece pop band originally from the Bangor area of North Wales, now based in Cardiff. Singing bilingually in English and their mother-tounge of Welsh, Huw Stephens of Radio 1 has described Yr Ods as “a brilliant indie band from North Wales with sharpness, melodies and a natural flow that can make you blush”.
After a successful 2010 which saw them make a string of well-received live performances including a second consecutive appearance in Glastonbury, Radio 1's Big Weekend, Camden Crawl and North Wales' very own Wakestock festival, they spent 2011 writing and recording their first LP, 'Troi a Throsi', which was released in October 2011.
Their album were warmly received within and beyond Wales, and earned them six BBC Radio Cymru RAP awards and two 'Y Selar' magazine awards. After a quiet period of writing and recently welcoming new drummer Gwion Llewelyn (previously of Race Horses), Yr Ods release their second LP 'Llithro' in August and are be eagerly promoting their new record.
Yn cefnogi fe fydd y gwychbeth H.Hawkline. Ac yntau'n dychwelyd am ysbaid o Los Angeles a newydd chwarae sesiwn fyw ar raglen BBC 6 Music Marc Riley dyma gyfle prin i weld H.Hawkline ar lwyfan ym Mhrydain.
H.Hawkline is the brainchild of Huw Evans, formerly more familiar here in Wales as a music TV and radio
presenter, a musician who came to our attention with soft folklike acoustic plucking, and a big tour with Gruff
Rhys recently. His début outing, A Cup of Salt sold out on Shape Records, whilst his current release Ghouls EP [his first with Turnstile Music] has gained wide critical acclaim. At one turn, slacker-anthems to be strummed at sunset on a South Wales porch and at the next, deranged, troubled stomps that are to be kept safely locked up in the garage, Ghouls EP confidently confirms H. Hawkline to be forging his own path within a lineage of gifted Welsh songwriters. Ahead of H.Hawkline's performance at The George Tavern, he will perform a rare live session on Marc Riley's BBC 6 Music program on Monday, September 23rd.
Hefyd yn chwarae bydd Casi Wyn, cerddor yn wreiddiol o Fangor sy bellach yn byw yn Llundain. Cafodd '1' ei EP cyntaf glôd di-fesur tra bo llais ysblennydd Casi a'i chasgliad o ganeuon trawiadol yn swyno cynulleidfaoedd.
Casi Wyn is a highly talented singer songwriter originally from Bangor, North Wales and now based in London. Her debut EP '1' presents a collection of striking songs, including ‘Canfod’ which was part of a BBC Radio Cymru session for Huw Stephens.
She was given an opportunity to play at last year's Swn Festival , and her live session on Bethan Elfyn's BBC Introducing show this year was especially memorable. She will be returning for this year's Swnfestival in October. With extensive air play on high acclaimed stations such as Amazing Radio and BBC Radio stations, Casi’s tantalising indie folk songs are demonstrating her musical prowess.
CHILDHOOD DJ SET
Dyma fand ifanc hynod o addawol sy wedi bod yn cefnogi y Palma Violets yn ddiweddar. Nos Sadwrn fe fydda nhw cymryd ysbaid o recordio eu halbwm gyntaf er mwyn DJio yn Nyth!
Childhood first made came on the scene in late 2012 when they made a strong impression with energetic live performances on Palma Violets' UK tour (they're due to go on tour with them again later this year). Thus far, the band have released the video to their single 'Blue Velvet', which Guardian writer Paul Lester has labelled a a "classic". He praised the band for their lush chorus-drenched guitar rifts and lead singer's soaring vocals. Whilst 'Solemn Skies', their latest cut, has seen them be heaped with praise from NME, who said that it looks set to send them in the the 'stratosphere'. With this strong reaction from a couple of singles, by the time their album (that they're currently recording) drops next year, the band will be very much at the forefront of British guitar music. They're taking a break from the studio this Saturday to come to The George Tavern and play some psychy garage classics mixed in with some infectious dance floor thrillers.
