Neil Diamond is one of a very few artists who coin the term legend when his musical career is placed in the spotlight. Since the 1960’s Diamond has been a jewel in the worldwide music scene, having sold over 125 million records. His talents have earned him a place as the third most successful adult contemporary artist, behind only Elton John and Barbara Streisand. Put this with his Grammy Award and Golden Globe, both of which were awarded to Neil in 1974 and you have proof of him earning the frantically tossed about term.
Neil Diamond’s discography is currently built out of 32 studio albums that are amongst a further plethora of live albums, singles and EPs. ‘The Jazz Singer’, which is considered Diamond’s finest LP went Platinum 5 times that add to his long line of certified records, silver, gold and platinum, topped finally by a huge 10 number 1 singles. His new album ‘Melody Road’ is the 32nd under diamonds belt and has been described as “one of the very finest in his singular body of work’. The album is co-produced by Don Was and Jacknife Lee, two producers who have worked with artists of the ilk of The Rolling Stones and U2, and is a 12-track journey through a heap of brand new material, completed with a book of guitar notes and song lyrics for a fully interactive experience.
The new album was met with the news of a world tour that first took place in a series of revered venues around the US and Canada, after which Diamond will travel across the Atlantic to play a series of dates in the UK that include this performance at Leeds’ First Direct Arena on Tuesday the 21st of July. As with all his UK shows, tickets will be in high demand, therefore we do not recommend waiting around to snap them up.
