It's been an outrageous year.
Fresh on the scene last February and branding ourselves as "Leeds only liquid drum and bass night", we inserted the sounds of Technimatic and LSB into Leeds dance music. Due to play at the Garage, we had a little misfortune and were forced to move to the Faversham - which accepted us with open arms, and, well, it was sick.
From there Blu Mar Ten and BCee continued the ride, cementing Overflow's stance and proving we were here for the long haul.
Removing our "Leeds only liquid drum and bass night" tagline, we branched out....Hosting Critical music's debut was really something special. Showcasing the drum and bass genre is a very diverse subject. The Russian bad boy Enei definitely stole the show and with hairs standing on the back of our necks, we swung serious fist.
Due to play another show at the Garage, we could hardly control our excitement to host our arguable all time favourite producers - Lenzman ad Commix- until the Garage closed it's doors for good, and we were forced *cough* (yet again) to relocate. We lucked out hard yet again with the Beaverworks basement that turned into an epic night. Without choking up, watching these DJ's from the sidelines was very surreal, and we are pretty sure you enjoyed it as well. It really brought home even more so what we wanted to pioneer within Leeds.
You never know, maybe the Garage will open for a one off special event for us for our third time lucky? Nahhh
Yours, Overflow - Leeds only liquid drum and bass night.
Wilkinson + GQ:
We've gone big on the headliner for our birthday show, though he really needs no introduction. After emerging onto the scene in late 2009, Wilkinson was snapped up by RAM records and in no time was releasing banger after banger in the form of tunes like Moonwalker, Overdose and Refugee.
Killer on the decks and killer in the studio, we're looking forward to welcoming him onto the finely tuned warehouse sound system. Oh, did someone say UK top 10 single? We thought so. You're not ready for this.
On hosting duties is Mr GQ, this man's versatility has seen him hosts artists from Goldie to Hype to Andy C, and with his ability to switch styles so well, he is as comfortable hosting up front heavy dnb sets to downtempo liquid, always guaranteed to keep the vibes going, this will be a smasher.
Total Science + Riya:
Total Science is a name that is synonymous with Drum and Bass, this duo have been putting out consistently quality releases for over 15 years, and they're ability to turn there hand to anything they try has given them an iconic status within the scene with releases on Shogun Audio, Metalheadz, Good Looking as well as their own imprint C.I.A and their own label C.I.A
Backing them up on live vocals, we're proud to bring you the magnificent Riya.
Keeping it locked as the first lady of drum and bass for many years, a series of unforgettable releases alongside the likes of Total Science and Lenzman have rightfully cemented her position at the top of the DnB Mc pyramid.
Safe to say we are absolutely buzzing at the prospect of bringing this trio to your ears for the first tie in Leeds' history.
Hybrid Minds B2B LSB
Hybrid minds have been dropping tune after tune on Fokuz and Spearhead recordings over the past few years and their new album "Mountains" has been gaining support all over the shop
Their style of soulful liquid dnb interspersed with the vocal talents of Grimm has managed to attract a legion of fans and we're ecstatic that they have agreed to perform an exclusive Spearhead records showcase alongside fellow label mate LSB…...
A stream of stellar releases on Spearhead Records in the past and some big things to come on labels such as Soul:R and Hospital have catapulted Luke LSB to the forefront of the liquid DnB scene. He absolutely smashed it at our opening night and we can't wait to see him smash it again.
These boys have been making waves on the drum and bass scene for years now.. from the moment they first collaborated together as Technicolour & Komatic, everybody that was anybody knew that something special was in the making. fast-forward 4 years and under the name Technimatic, the pair are one of the most well-respected duo's in liquid drum and bass, pushing liquid drum and bass forward from one of the most solid platforms around in the form of Shogun Audio. Just try and find one tune of theirs that isn't perfection.. They absolutely killed it headlining our opening night a year back, so it's time for Round 2. Bring it on.
We're extremely pleased to welcome Kazakhstan's Command Strange for his Leeds debut. At 22 years old this producer has already managed to see over 100 releases to his name on the likes of Fokuz, V, Metaheadz, Good Looking and Integral, with his sound being championed by most of the big hitters in the scene and despite his young age has managed to show his huge versatility as a producer, from bubbling liquid to dirty techy rollers….hyped isn't the word.
