As far as electronic music pioneers go, you don't get much more esteemed than Steve Bug.
Founder of the pioneering Poker Flat imprint, Bug has also peppered the likes Ovum, Cocoon and M_nus with his heavy-hitting blend of masterfully produced electronica and no nonsense techno.
He is joind by Ghostly co-founder and all-round dance music visionary, Matthew Dear. Having remixed everyone from The xx to The Chemical Brothers and released the likes of Seth Troxler, Matrixxman and even his own acid-infused alias, Audion, through Ghostly's sister label Spectral Sound, it's safe to say Dear is one of the game's most revered figures.
As a DJ he carries that multifaceted persona with him, slamming festivals worldwide with stomping techno, four to the floor house and forgotten Detroit masterpieces, all gelled together with an unrivaled ease.
Its been over 10 years since Matthew last played in Manchester and we are delighted to have him debut at PlayitDown.
Completing the line up is secretsundaze stalwart and one half of Two Armadillos, Giles Smith who will bring his eclectic mix of all things electronica. Musically his style is focussed around Deep House and Techno with a warm, hypnotic feel. However his sets draw on many styles from Chicago to Detroit to more modern European influences. Most of all though, Giles’ sets are noted for their strong programming, passion integrity and his unwavering ability to uncover hidden gems both new and old.
This is quite the lineup, don't miss three masters of their craft.
Support will be supplied by the PlayitDown residents, with their own style of forward thinking electronic grooves.
As always at PlayitDown, expect positive vibes all night long with the soundest crowd in town.

We've had to wait for a very long time to announce our first official event at the club, but after what feels like an eternity for us, we're sure you'll agree, it was definitely worth the wait.
If you've ever heard of PlayitDown or have been to any of our warehouse events over the last three and a half years then you'll know that we usually like to do things a little more low key. Very little promotion, no artwork, no gimmicks. We rely on invitation only event pages and word of mouth. But with events at Hidden it gives us the opportunity to explore other avenues in terms of our approach.
Our connection with Hidden goes way back, in 2012 we hosted two warehouse parties in the disused location known then as Downtex Mill. Thankfully a group of sound individuals who attended our events saw massive potential in the space, and after two and a half years of hard graft have turned that warehouse into the most exciting club in Manchester.
As well as hosting events at Hidden, PlayitDown warehouse parties will continue at various backstreet locations in and around Manchester, with our next warehouse event planned for late Feb / early March 2016. Our next event at Hidden will be in April 2016.
See you there.
The Kaiser that is Steve Bug needs no introduction. A long standing favourite amongst many, Steve, also known as the "Gentleman of Techno" commands legendary status. With over 80 releases and 40 remixes, The Poker Flat Recordings boss is as relevant now as he's ever been. It's an absolute pleasure to welcome Steve to play at PlayitDown.
Matthew Dear, also know as Audion, is a rarity in music. He can turn his hand to many genres and gains respect from his peers and fans alike. Not only known for his DJ sets, Matthew fronts a critically acclaimed band, performs live electronic sets, and is a massively in demand producer and remixer, remixing tracks for artists as diverse as The Chemical Brother's, The XX, The Drums and Kylie Minogue. As well as all this, Matthew runs one of the most forward thinking electronic music labels in the world, Ghostly International, as well as the incredible Spectral Sound. He straddles multiple musical worlds yet belongs to none. Matthew last DJ'd in Manchester over 10 years ago. You're not gonna want to miss it.
We're delighted to welcome back secretsundaze main man Giles Smith, our favourite guest from previous PlayitDown events, who incidentally played for us at this venue over three years ago. One of the most respected artists in the game. A true DJs DJ.
