Pearson Sound
[Hessle Audio]

London-based producer David Kennedy entered the dubstep scene under the name Ramadanman, originally releasing material on his eponymous label, and subsequently co-founding Hessle Audio with Ben UFO and Pangaea. Further Ramadanman releases appeared on Soul Jazz, Apple Pips, and Aus Music. Kennedy debuted his Pearson Sound alias in 2009, with a series of 12"s that increasingly showed more of a House and Garage influence, as well as that of the burgeoning Chicago footwork scene.

Kennedy then began to phase out his Ramadanman alias; his 2011 Fabriclive 56 mix CD was credited to both names, but all subsequent releases (excepting two house 12"s credited to Maurice Donovan) were under the Pearson Sound moniker. A 2011 white label 12" on Night Slugs showed Kennedy nodding to two of his influences, with remixes of Baltimore club producer Rod Lee's 'Let Me See What U Workin With' and "Little" Louie Vega side project Hardrive's 'Deep Inside', and pushing the project into a more breakbeat-heavy style. Kennedy collaborated with Joy Orbison and Boddika on a 12" on their SunkLo label in 2012, and launched the Pearson Sound label the same year, with a series of singles and EPs continuing to push his bass-heavy sound into more fractured, experimental directions.

Pearson Sound's self-titled full-length debut appeared on Hessle Audio in 2015 and was met with huge acclaim from both fans and critics alike. Showing no signs at all of slowing down, 2016 looks set to be the bigest year yet for Kennedy and the Hessle boys as they continue to play the biggest and best clubs, stages and festivals in the world. Self-released single 'XLB' (https://soundcloud.com/pearsonsound/xlb) is a prime example of the uncompromising and experimental music that has propelled Pearson Sound towards the very top of the underground tree.

Alief
[Pretty Pretty Good]

Pretty Pretty Good resident Alief (a.k.a. Freddie Keen) is a rising star in the Sheffield underground music scene, and has consistently blown us away each and every time we have had him in to play for us. His talent was epitomised when he performed at our No Policy takeover in February, playing masterfully for 3 hours and spanning everything from sultry ambient House and chuggy Disco to wonky, hard hitting Techno. Prior to coming to Sheffield he supported the likes of Hunee, Dan Shake, Earl Jeffers, and Klose One in Birmingham, so here is a guy with real pedigree from the start. He's only just going into second year but that doesn't stop him from having a taste developed well beyond his age, an extensive and awesome vinyl collection and amazing maturity and skill behind the decks. A self-proclaimed lover of the warm up set, that's exactly what he'll be doing for us here.
