Rachael Yamagata
+ Special Guests

US-Singer/Songwriter RACHAEL YAMAGATA returns to the UK in September 2015...with a full band, a brand new album and lots of passion.

With close to 100.000 likes on Facebook Rachael Yamagata is one of the best accepted musicians... not too bad for a truly independent artist...in Europe she's still sort of a best-kept-secret. With a brand new album under her belt and worldwide shows this year in Asia, US/Canada and Europe, 2015 might be her breakout year.

In 2015 she was for more than 2 months headliner in the US and Co-headliner in US and Canada with Joshua Radin; she played a celebrated headliner-tour in Germany, big venues in Singapore, Seoul, and Taiwan end of May/early June and again in the USA where she's on the road in June as a co-headliner with David Gray and Amos Lee.

Rachael's skills as songwriter and her unique quality as performer will satisfy all listeners in one of her concerts. Luckily, Rachael Yamagata will come back to Europe including UK dates - and for the first time in Birmingham on September 18th, 2015 at the renowned Institute.

The brandnew full-length album is scheduled for August 2015 and is named "Tightrope Walker". The album is again produced by John Alagia, best known for his work with the likes of Dave Matthews, Jason Mraz, Liz Phair and John Mayer...among many others.

Born in Arlington, Virginia, Rachael has Italian, German, Japanese and US-blood in her veins. Maybe that's a reason for her special approach to music which reminds many to a diverse variety of the likes of PJ Harvey, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Patti Smith, Tori Amos or Nick Cave. Some call Rachael the "Queen of Heartbreak"; but in fact she starts where Norah Jones ends. Rachael Yamagata has a full power voice, which appears sometimes clear as a bell and sometimes strong like a dangerous thunderstorm - but always with a lot of passion.

Rachael started with a funk-rock band called "Bumpus" and when she decided to go the solo-route she was soon to be asked to write songs and to collaborate with indie-heroes like Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne and Bright Eyes among many others - but she can master the fine line to pop music as well, e.g. when she worked with guys like Jason Mraz on his song "Did You Get My Message?".

Rachael Yamagata's songs appeared in numerous TV-series like: "How I Met Your Mother", "ER", "Smallville", "The O.C.", "Grey's Anatomy" and "Nip/Tuck", etc.

Songs used in Hollywood-Productions including movies like (among many more): "Elisabethtown" with Kirsten Dunst, Orlando Bloom, Susan Sarandon and Alec Baldwin... "In Her Shoes" with Cameron Diaz, Shirley MacLaine and Toni Collette..."Prime" with Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep..."The Last Kiss" with Zach Braff and Casey Affleck...."Definitely, Maybe" with Rachel Weisz and Ryan Reynolds..."Hope Springs" with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones....
