After our sell-out launch, which saw RSD, Earl Gateshead and the Reggae Roast Leeds crew pounding the biggest and best in dubwise sounds through The Faversham’s mighty Funktion One sound system, we're back with its second event of the year!
Reggae Roast have been putting on sell-out parties in the capital for over 4 years, as well as releasing some of the freshest sounds on their label. Building on the huge success they have built in London, they have brought their killer parties to Leeds and coming with them are some of the biggest names in British Reggae. Get ready to skank Leeds!
Reggae Roast Jamdown Leeds' second visit The Faversham is set to impress, with a line up boasting one of the biggest names in the scene, Mungo's Hi Fi as well as an exclusive set from Gentleman’s Dub Club frontman and founder, Johnny Be Good!! Support as always comes from the mighty Reggae Roast themselves, as well as Tudor Lion, and Brotherhood Soundsystem Titan, bringing rough and tough selections of the highest order!
MUNGO'S HI FI - Hailing from Scotland, Mungo’s Hi-Fi is Tom Tattersall, Douglas Paine and Craig Macleod. The trio made their debut with ‘Wickedness’ feat Brother Culture, a big hit in dub-reggae circles that gained massive airtime from Jah Shaka and Iration Steppas. They then made their first foray into dubstep with Babylon which was featured on Appleblim’s Dubstep Allstars Vol. 06. Now hosting their own stage at Croatia’s best-known (and best) dubwise festival - Outlook - these guys know how to throw a party; expect these boys to bring that unrivalled party experience to The Faversham this November!!
JOHNNY BE GOOD - Best known as the front man for one of the UK’s biggest reggae bands of the moment, Gentleman’s Dub Club. Having rocked festivals and sell-out shows across the globe as well as hitting number 1 in the I-Tunes Reggae chart with their latest album ‘Open Your Eyes’ which featured their hit single ‘High Grade’ they have had an incredible year. Johnny is now turning his musical ear to the wheels of steel and we are excited to have him playing an exclusive DJ set here in Leeds.
REGGAE ROAST - Having built a formidable reputation as the number one new sound in British Reggae, Reggae Roast return to the Faversham on a high. Having just come back from a busy summer schedule playing at festivals and dance-halls across the UK and abroad they will be bringing a bag full of dub plates and label exclusives, with basslines that will rock The Faversham to it’s foundations.
TUDOR LION - The latest generation of dub selectors pushing forward HEAVY basslines and positive, conscious vibes.
Having worked closely with Mikey Dread and Ras Kayleb at Channel One Soundsystem for the past four years TUDOR LION's selection and experience is way beyond his years.
After two successful performances alongside Reggae Roast in Brixton, this is Tudor's first session in his new hometown.
With a bag full of tuff dubplate and exclusive music from producers around the world you can expect a set full of energy and vibes from the young warrior.
TITAN - Owner and operator of Leeds' legendary new soundsystem (Brotherhood of course), he begins his residency at Reggae Roast Leeds by going back to what inspired him to build those giant sub scoops in the first place - bass-heavy Jamaican music culture.
As always Hosting the night will be RAMON JUDAH, Reggae Roast frontman and one of the hardest working MC’s in the UK. He will be performing tracks from his forthcoming release of Reggae Roast Records and what a MASSIVE tune it is. WIth his sweet melodies and charismatic stage presence there is no one better to host the Jamdown in Leeds.
The Blue Lounge will be hosted by DILATION – after the success of their room at our last event, we are happy to announce the return of Dilation to the blue room at Reggae Roast Jamdown! They are one of the great recent success stories of the Leeds scene. Free from the pretensions and revenue demands of larger venues, with any profit made being immediately put back into staging an even better night next time around, after just three parties up here people clocked that they were onto something special. Committed to bringing great music to the people in one of the most positive atmospheres you’ll find in any club the world over, the Dilation boys are passionate about what they do and do it very well!
