What's On

RSD / Earl Gateshead / Reggae Roast Kenny Knots / Ramon Judah / Titan Reggae Roast have been putting on sell out parties in the capital for over 4 years, as well as releasing some of the freshest dub- wise sounds on their label. Building on the huge success they have built in London, they are now bringing their killer parties to Leeds and coming with them are some of the biggest names in British Reggae. Get ready to skank Leeds! Reggae Roast Jamdown Leeds kicks off a string of exciting events at The Faversham with an all star line up of artists from the Reggae Roast Records roster. RSD (Rob Smith), Kenny Knots, Ramon Judah and Reggae Roast will also be joined by Earl Gateshead of Trojan Sound System, bringing rough and tough selections of the highest order! ---------- RSD, perhaps better known as Bristol bass and drum music legend Rob Smith and one half of the respected production duo Smith and Mighty, has been pushing bass heavy rhythms for more than two decades. He remains firmly at the forefront of Bristol’s endlessly inventive music scene, with a staggering discography and a range of projects encompassing dub, drum and bass, 2-step and dubstep. Earl Gateshead has been big in the Soundsystem scene for over thirty years, a reputation which has seen him rightly labelled as a reggae institution! The Trojan Soundsystem that he is the face of has gained worldwide recognition, and we are lucky enough to have him playing at the first ever Jamdown Leeds. Reggae Roast have built a formidable reputation as the number one new sound in British Reggae. Having just returned from a busy summer schedule playing at festivals and dance-halls across the UK and abroad they will be bringing a bag full of dub plates and label exclusives, with bass lines that will rock The Faversham to it’s foundations. Kenny Knots is at true vetaran of the UK roots and dancehall scene since his debut ‘Watch How the People Dem Dancing’ blew up in 1986, selling 10’s of thousands of copies world wide. Since then Kenny has worked with the who’s who of European reggae including Jah Tubby’s, Honest Johns, Conscious Sounds, Mungo’s HiFi and Iration Steppas. His explosive sing jay style is something that must be seen to be believed. And introducing Titan - owner and operator of Leeds'' legendary new soundsystem (Brotherhood of course), he begins his residency at Reggae Roast Leeds by going back to what inspired him to build those giant sub scoops in the first place - bass-heavy Jamaican music culture. Hosting the night will be Ramon Judah, Reggae Roast frontman and one of the hardest working MC’s in the UK. He will be performing tracks from his forthcoming release of Reggae Roast Records and what a MASSIVE tune it is. WIth his sweet melodies and charismatic stage presence there is no one better to host the first ever Jamdown Leeds. ----------- This first JAMDOWN event will set the tone for what promises to be one of Leeds’s leading and most innovative dubwise experiences in the city. The next 12 months will see The Faversham play host to an exceptional selection of artists, giving dub enthusiasts an unforgettable night out. Tickets on sale NOW from Ticketarena:
