British drum and bass duo Sigma are descending on Birmingham’s The Institute on Thursday the 6th of April 2015. Joe Lenzie and Cameron Edwards met in Leeds when they discovered one another’s love for the genre from going to the many drum & bass events the city has to offer. After a number of tracks that were pipped by underground DJs and heavily played in clubs, released on labels like Breakbeat Kaos, Sigma broke through to commercial territory after their collaboration with DJ Fresh ‘Lassitude’ made a small dent on the UK Top 100 Singles chart.
This achievement however was far from the calibre of music the pair are making today, as since that first breakthrough record their rework of Kanye West’s ‘Bound 2’, titled ‘Nobody To Love’ stormed the charts and went straight to number one, signifying the start of something very big for them both. Their second number one came in the form of their collaboration with Paloma Faith, ‘Changing’, which also topped the charts. Today they are touring the UK and have announced the release of their next single ‘Higher’. Featuring Labrinth, Sigma will be hoping that this will be their third consecutive number one single, not to mention the fact it has been nominate for 2 BRIT Awards for ‘Best Single’ and ‘Best Video’. It will be released on the 22nd of March.
Expect to hear an eclectic mix of their best music at The Institute on the 6th April, with older classics, the current hits and unreleased gems all doing damage on the dance floor.
