:: Andrew Ashong ::
Andrew Ashong has been titled as an essential listen by many music blogs in the past year. The Ghanaian-British artist had his first solo release last year on Theo Parrish’s label, Sound Signature and it was so good, the title track, ‘Flowers’ won ‘Track of the Year’ at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards 2013. When asked, what it was behind the excitement of this record, Theo Parrish said; “The Funk. Right under my nose were all the essential elements: simplicity, drive, and honesty gained from heartfelt experience in Andrew Ashong’s music. It’s more than just that. It’s human.”

:: A look back on the year for Set One Twenty::
It’s been a rollercoaster year for Set One Twenty, starting in September with the second year of the Mint Festival. This year with an increased capacity, Set One Twenty hosted our own arena bringing Eats Everything, Dusky, George FitzGerald, Midland & Detroit Swindle to the grounds of the stunning Lotherton Hall located near Aberford, West Yorkshire.
From where we started year off at our first home, Set One Twenty had to say goodbye to our residency at The Garage. The club where it all started went from start-up venue to winner of the DJ mag’s prestigious Best Small Club award in the space of nine months. We have some special memories from The Garage and wish them all the best with all there future endeavours.
With one door closing, another door opened for us. This year we have hosted some amazing shows, bringing to Leeds artists including French Express, Kyle Hall, Omar S, Roy Davis Junior and Eats Everything with our new Saturday residency at the infamous Mint Club. This weekend Set One Twenty hosted the first of our terrace parties at the Mint Warehouse, bringing Detroit Swindle, Ten Walls and Seth Troxler. Those that attended the event will know that the atmosphere was incredible and we’re looking forward to the next instalment.
Set One Twenty launched a brand new venture which is a uniqueconcept that we are very passionate to bring to the ever growing scene of Leeds.
With the the and After a hugely successful 2013/14; we just wanted to say thank you to all that supported and partied with us over the whole year and we can’t wait to do it all again… enjoy the Holidays Leeds, See you back in September!
