Temples are the four piece band who, since they formed in 2012, have been cited as the best new band in Britain by both Noel Gallagher and Johnny Marr, which straight away gives you a taste of the talent these guys hold. Coming together in Kettering, England, Temples consists of lead vocalist and guitarist James Bagshaw, bassist and vocalist Thomas Walmsley, drummer Samuel Toms and keyboardist, further guitarist and backing vocalist Adam Smith. Together they began infecting the public with their music through YouTube, on which they uploaded four tracks they had produced themselves that attracted the attention of Heavenly Recordings, who consequently singed the band and released their debut single ‘Shelter Song’ in November 2012.
Since the release of their first single, they have gone on to support many reputable bands during their tour and festival appearances; these include Kasabian, Mystery Jets, The Vaccines and Suede to name to name just a few. Temples’ inaugural headline UK tour took place in October of last year, calling at venues up and down the country, lasting until the end of the winter months. The tour also saw the band announce the release of their debut album ‘Sun Structures’, that was released on the 5th of February this year. This was followed with further tours around the Europe, America and Australia. Despite their success with worldwide touring and gaining important compliments from many respected music figures, Temples have not received much radio airplay over the past few years, a point that has been brought up by their earlier mentioned fan Noel Gallagher, who believes they should be covered by radio station all over the country.
Now back from America, Temples are ready to rock round the UK once more, with a large number of festival and other gig dates lined up until the end of the winter months. The bands appearance at Manchester’s The Ritz is on Saturday the 6th of December, and they won’t be coming alone, as the appearance will be completed by a number of special guests who are yet to be announced. The Ritz in Manchester is known for being one of the cities most iconic music venues, having played host to some of the best live bands and artists of all time including The Arctic Monkeys, R.E.M, Snow Patrol, The Smiths and The Beatles. It is now time for Temples to add to this long line of history.
