So after an amazing 10th birthday party in November we wanted to do something in the sunshine, as most of you know Dirty Disco has had a long standing connection with Distrikt. It's been 4 years since any daytime shindigs have happened at the venue so this will be a very special affair for anyone who went to one back in the day you know how amazing they were and if you haven't been to one yet you will be in for a treat! We've put together a lineup of some of our favourite artists at the moment, we will be doing this party in 3 sections finishing at one of the best underground new venues in Leeds, Freedom Mills.....

SAN PROPER (Rush Hour, Perlon, Proper's Cult, NL)
FOUK (Outplay, Heist, NL)
GIDEÖN (NYC Downlow, Block9)
JAMMHOT (Morris audio, Madhouse)

TOM CRAVEN (Illusion Recordings)

PART 1 - Distrikt Bar, 7 Duncan Street, Leeds, LS1 6DQ
PART 2 - Freedom Mills, Washington street, Leeds, LS3 1JL
SAN PROPER (Rush Hour, Perlon, Proper's Cult, NL)

San Proper is a well-respected artist from the Amsterdam underground club scene. Over the last fifteen years, he has been spinning and playing live from major clubs and festivals to smaller bars and dodgy underground locations. He’s known and praised for his House & Disco sets, but also skilled in blending different styles from Acid to Afro-beat into an eclectic mix. Since 2009 he has been performing & presenting a solo live show chanting vocals and playing several live instruments alongside his hard- ware and digital gear.

As an Amsterdam local, San Proper is working close with fresh and ge- nuine labels and organizations like Rush Hour, Dekmantel and Trouw. All known for setting the tone for quality underground music and scenery by supporting local talent and paying tribute to house and techno legends. This same attitude got him to release on several labels like Rush Hour and Perlon. His first five releases with Rush Hour was based on presenting his musical friends from Amsterdam with his “Proper A’dam Family Series”, ‘Part 4’ with O-Boogie got picked up by Laurent Garnier, who did an edit of ‘Magnificent Speech Funk’. After presenting his background he released his break through record “Keep it Raw” on Perlon, after producing a remix on this label for Ricardo Villalobos with a track entitled ‘Electonic Water- It ate my Quarter’ which resulted in several releases on Perlon. Meanwhile he has been collaborating with muses, friends and associates Tom Trago, Awanto 3 and Melon representing the sound of Amsterdam House music.

His passion comes across best with presenting this energy live as well as the vocal extras which he serves up during Dj-sets. As a touring artist he remained playing from major to local events, spreading his diverse sets on legendary spots in Tokyo, Osaka, Montreal, Shanghai, San Diego, Detroit, London, Copenhagen, Sofia, Zurich, Berlin and Paris, where he has spend a lot of sessions completing his album for Rush Hour.

FOUK (Outplay, Heist, NL)

Daniel and Hans roots are firmly set in the Netherlands ever since they became partners in crime at high school in Nijmegen. Hans took his hand to creative drawing and later this artistic flare started to pay his bills as he became a graphic designer, Daniel’s obsession with music at a young age led him to study sound design and music production. Both the boys ear for music started at a young age and they would sneak up into the attic to play the vinyl they’d collected, annoying the parents as every good child does. Electronic circuits and noise making machines were their next project, until music production became a real possibility.

Daniel started producing dance music under the name 3 Colours and has been using his own name for a few years now, while continuing to teach sound design in Amsterdam, and Hans makes music as Junktion; but their childhood days brought them to collaborating in the studio and the Fouk project was born.

Their first vinyl release as Fouk, on their label Outplay was met with critical acclaim with brilliant reactions to ‘Stuff Your Dad Liked’ and ‘Cat Lady’. Following swiftly on, they produced a formidable remix for Lay-Far on the Swedish Local Talk Records. After Detroit Swindle signed them to their Heist imprint with their very successful Kill Frenzy EP and doing remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak and Razor-n-Tape, they gained a lot of attention. With multiple EP’s and remixes coming up, starting with the current Heavy On The Bacon EP on Dairmount’s Room With A View imprint, it’s going to be a very promising year for the guys.

GIDEÖN(NYC Downlow, Block9)

London based DJ and vinyl archivist Gideön has been playing Deep House, Northern Soul, Roots Reggae, Acid House, Disco, Soul, Vintage Gospel and Rare Groove for the last 24 years.

Gideön is co-creator of hybrid music & art installations currently part of the Block9 portfolio at Glastonbury Festival. These include The NYC Downlow, The London Underground, Genosys and Maceo's. As well as co-designing and producing these venues he curates their musical programmes as well as booking talent for a variety of other events too.

Since his first set of decks 24 years ago he has devoted his life to collecting black music vinyl from the US, Jamaica and the UK. Now that his vinyl habit includes Northern Soul, Reggae & Vintage Gospel rarities, he has been forced into a life of hopeless poverty and destitution.

Gideön’s weekly radio show on London’s Soho Radio hosts the likes of Horse Meat Disco, Bill Brewster, Mark E, Prosumer & Bicep.

JammHot are a Leeds and London-based production partnership consisting of Matt Mason and Jamie Adams.

Having separately pursued their own musical ventures, the two friends decided to draw on their differing backgrounds and influences to create their own heady blend of house that’s rich in musicality and sense of adventure, yet aimed squarely towards the dancefloor.

Perhaps inevitably given their expansive musical heritage, JammHot are always looking to the future while lacing their productions with a deep-seated affection for golden eras of the past. Though their sound continually evolves, it’s rapidly apparent there is a core ethos at work that allies irresistible rhythms to bold melodic direction.

The past two years has seen the duo steadily build their profile with original productions and remixes on such DJ staples as Morris Audio, Leftroom and Dirt Crew, as well releasing their debut artist EP on Huxley’s Saints & Sonnets imprint. Their burgeoning reputation as must-see DJ’s has also been enhanced through their resident DJ sets at Ape-X, one of the North’s most established house and techno nights and infamous for it's incendiary atmosphere and cutting-edge line-ups.
