London based indie rockers The Maccabees first started turning heads with their second single ‘Latchmere’, which became a favourite of BBC DJ Steve Lamacq, not to mention having a music video that was featured on MTV and all over YouTube.
The Maccabees debut album was released on Fiction and became a hit in the UK, reaching the number 24 spot and receiving critical acclaim from a number of music publications. Aside from ‘Latchmere’, there were 12 original tracks that received heavy radio play right until the release of their second studio album ‘Wall Of Arms’. Now charting in both the UK and Ireland, The Maccabees were rising up through the music scene, with their most recent album ‘Given To The Wild’, being their most successful yet.
Charting at number 4 in the UK and going Gold, ‘Given To The Wild’ gave The Maccabees further critical acclaim and featured production from Cenzo Townshend, Tim Goldsworthy and Bruno Ellingham, with the latter of the two having worked with the likes of Massive Attack and LCD Soundsystem in the past.
The Maccabees will be embarking on a series of tour dates from May, with their first gig being here at Birmingham’s The Institute on Monday the 11th of May. The band will then be playing in Glasgow, London, Manchester and at a whole host of festivals over the summer, including Reading and Leeds.
