THE OFFICIAL THIS IS ENGLAND PARTY
OFFICIAL ‘THIS IS ENGLAND’ CLUB NIGHT LAUNCH
Warp Films, F-10 agency and Big Arty Productions are proud to present the launch of the official ‘This Is England’ club night.
Launching on Sunday May 1st at Plug in Sheffield, the night promises a timeline of music from the feature film and subsequent TV series’ with skinhead / ska / reggae, 80’s indie classics and the more recent 90’s ‘madchester’ / rave / acid house.
Produced by Sheffield’s own Warp Films, Shane Meadows’ feature film This Is England was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, and quickly made Lol, Woody, Shaun and the gang household names. This was followed up with the four-part television series This is England ’86, co-written by Jack Thorne, which aired on Channel 4 in 2010, and This Is England ’88 a year later in December 2011. Both series became multi-award winning, with numerous nominations and wins; BAFTA Best Mini-Series (’88, win), RTS Best Writer – Drama (’86, win), BAFTA Best Actress (’86, win, Vicky McClure) and BAFTA Best Actor (’88, nomination, Joe Gilgun).
Five years later and 2015 saw the transmission of This Is England ’90, the final chapter in a decade of the landmark This Is England story. All the gang are back and facing new challenges, with some of the gang embracing the new decade with more gusto than others. This Is England ’90 has just been nominated for six BAFTA Awards, winners are announced in May.
