'Two Gents' presented by BackBreak Theatre
''In love, who respects friend?''
BackBreak Theatre return to Leeds to present their second show 'Two Gents'. After a three sell out performances of 'Only The Penitent Man Shall Pass' earlier this year, we are back to give Shakespeare a crack of the whip.
'Two Gents' is a 1981 adaptation of the bard's first play 'Two Gentlemen of Verona'. A tale of friendship, inconstancy and a struggling funk DJ. The land of Verona is moved onto British soil and Milan is carried across the pond by two emigrating best friends, two stunning girls and two moronic clowns (we might even throw a dog named Crab in for good measure). Get set to be transported back to the 1980s as Canal Mills provides the stunning backdrop, filled all the relevant trimmings; Kool and the Gang, Ghetto Blasters, Shell Suits, The Clash, Jean Jackets and Viynl turntables.
In the show we're looking to emphasise the element of play which runs as a motif throught Shakespeare's comedies. So ready yourselves for cross dressing, physical sequences and bicycling.
