Bestival has in the past won a whole host of awards including The UK Festival Awards ‘Best Medium Festival’ for 4 consecutive years, as well as the UKs ‘Best Major Festival’ in 2010 and 2012. Curated by Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank with his wife and partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved, Bestival has been bringing eclectic live music acts and DJ’s to the Isle of Wight since back in 2004.
Bestival now spreads over many areas that are given enigmatic names like Stardust Field, which is where the main stage is located, Temple Island and the Ambient Forest. These are the locations for all of Bestival’s many stages, areas and sideshows that make up and complete the weekend. Over the years there has been a large roster of live music acts and a ton of world renowned DJ’s who have performed at Bestival. Some of the most notable performances come from the likes of Basement Jaxx, Röyksopp, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Snoop Dogg, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox and Orbital.
As well as a forward thinking music policy, there are also a huge number of other areas and attractions at Bestival that are spread over the festival arena. Located in all corners of each section of the festival, these areas offer a huge array of impromptu opportunities, which might include water slides, giant scrabble, fireworks, the wall of death, bandstands, tea rooms and a host of other activities. This shedload of exciting attractions show that unlike many other festivals it is not all about the music at Bestival, however that doesn’t shadow the fact that the music you will hear at Bestival is some of the best in the world.
