About
Isle of Wight Festival is one of the UK's oldest and therefore historic music festivals.
First held way back in the late 1960s, the Isle of Wight Festival's six decades haven't been without incident. In 1970 an estimated 700,000 people turned up to see Jimi Hendrix play live, leading to the UK Parliament to pass a law banning the festival.
In finally returned in 2002, and in the years since has gone onto become one of the country's most popular, hosting headline sets from royalty such as Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie and the Rolling Stones.
All this plays out at a festival that is great for families, while its lineup includes a diverse programme of theatre, film, comedy, activities and games.
