About Lovebox (continued)

The first Lovebox in 2002 was a relatively small scale affair. Cato and Findlay, fresh off a string of successful club nights in some of London's best venues, wanted to put on a fresh event the likes of which London had never seen before.

They threw their first party - a test for what would eventually become Lovebox - at an old strip club on Tottenham Court Road in early 2002. The test event was a huge success, with long lines of people eagerly waiting outside the venue hoping to get in.

Following the success of their test event, Cato and Findlay took up a residency at '93 Feet East', one of East London's most popular nightclubs. The pair decided to call their residency 'Lovebox', and thus the Lovebox brand was born.

Within a matter of weeks, tickets for Lovebox were selling out far in advance and long lines were forming to get in to 93 Feet East. Cato and Findlay knew they had struck gold, and the pair quickly decided to up their ambitions by upgrading the Lovebox experience from a club night to a fully featured festival experience.

In June 2003, on the 1 year anniversary of the first Lovebox night, Cato and Findlay held the very first Lovebox Festival on Clapham Common. More than 10,000 music lovers attended the inaugural Lovebox Festival, with tickets selling out in less than 48 hours. Cato and Findlay put on a great show, with a massive main stage, three smaller dance stages, and a bevy of stalls selling food and beer.

2004's Lovebox Festival upped the ante once again, with an increased capacity of 20,000 people. The event was a huge success with tickets selling out in less than 72 hours. A sister event was also held at Newcastle Racecourse.

2005 saw Lovebox move to Victoria Park, its permanent home. Co-headlined by Groove Armada - Cato and Findlay - and Mylo, Lovebox 2005 ran for two days with four tents featuring dance music acts, a pair of cabernet arenas, and even a funfair.

Lovebox has gone from strength to strength since 2005 with more acts, higher capacities, and more festivities. With an all star lineup of musical acts from all over the world, tons of exciting activities and sideshows, and some of the best food stalls in the festival circuit, Lovebox is not a festival you'll want to miss.
