In a matter of weeks, Transmission will be taking hold of Manchester; the new events series that has just announced a huge running of shows, welcoming some of the best DJing talent from around the world. With a grand total of 18 shows will be taking place throughout the 5 months Transmission at The Albert Hall, we have chosen our top 5 acts to see across the board.
In the world of first-rate house and techno, the Chilean wizard Ricardo Villalobos is amongst the most talented DJs in the world. Known foremost for his experimental yet exciting music selection, seconded by his flamboyant, hedonistic performances, Villalobos is a pleasure to watch. As a producer he has fabricated some of the most extravagant and out there tracks we have heard, whether it be the brand new 32 minute long remix of DJ Pierre’s classic ‘What Is House Muzik’ or his beat less and frankly frightening collaboration with Butch titled ‘Up’. During his DJ sets he progresses though minimal, bass heavy beats right through to intense techno climaxes that will have you clutching at your bottle of water like there’s no tomorrow. You can catch Ricardo playing at The Warehouse Project and Zutekh Presents on Friday the 6th of March.
