5 Festivals You Have To Go To This August

5 Festivals You Have To Go To This August

Beacons Festival

The Funkirk Estate in Skipton, North Yorkshire may not seem like an energetic, fun filled festival site for most of the year, but trust us when we say that from the 7th to the 10th of August, the tranquil fields will be transformed into a whirlwind of ecstatic festival atmosphere, where a large number of musically varied artists will be performing out onto the rolling Yorkshire hills. Whether you’re idea of heaven is enjoying an afternoon listening to some of the best folk, blues and hip-hop acts, or dancing the night away joined by the most cutting edge house and techno artists around, you’re thirst will be quenched. With an impressive array of performers from Neneh Cherry to Dixon and Bonobo to Daughter the hills will most definitely be alive with music. As well as this there will also be an extensive entertainment programme that includes cabarets, roaming performers, lectures and a specially selected number of high quality food vendors that have given Beacons a reputation for having ‘the finest festival food’ around.

With a large section of its site dedicated to the young ones, there are go-karts, circus tents, bouncy castles and much more to keep the little critters happy all weekend. When the day ends there are also a number of accommodation options that range from tipis to gypsy caravans and bell tents to plots you can reserve for your own camping gear. With music and activities for all ages and tastes, Camp Bestival reserves itself as one of the most diverse festivals in the UK.

Wilderness Festival

The setting of Wilderness Festival is an 800-year-old deer park that is transformed into an idyllic festival landscape, surrounded by ornamental lakes and towering woodland. With roaming processions, theatre and art performances as well as award winning chefs holding special banquets, there is a treat of goings on to get involved in, all whilst a specially curated line up of the hottest musical performers around appear on the stages scattered around the site. Through the day you have highlights such as London Grammar, Metronomy, Sam Smith, Jessie Ware and Burt Bacharach whilst in the evening you can take a trip to The Quarry to see world-renowned electronic music acts like Greg Wilson and Psychemagik hammering out different styles of music through each night of the festival. Like the previously mentioned festival, Wilderness also caters for every type of camper whether you’re experienced or a little unconvinced. Leeds Festival

As one of the most iconic festivals in the UK, Leeds Festival (bred out of its southern counterpart Reading Festival) has long invited a huge number of revered performers from all corners of the music world. With famous headliners exclusively appearing at Leeds every year it is a haven for almost 80.000 people who flock there each year. Main stage headliners this year include Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys and Paramore, however there is also a number of other stages donning the best in indie, metal, dance, hip-hop and much more. Highlights include Schoolboy Q, Andy C, Boys Noize, Golgol Bordello, Sunshine Underground and David Rodigan. Live music is nowhere near where the fun stops as comedians such as Milton Jones and Bill Bailey, fairground rides, campsite DJ booths, bars and of course the night time dance tent fill out all the time you’re wandering the 600 acres of festival site. Leaving out the obvious exception, Leeds Festival is one of the largest and most popular festivals in England.
