Martin Buttrich (Live) – Arena: System. & Set One Twenty
As an irrevocably talented solo artist, one third of the DJing super group Better Lost Than Stupid and co-founder of one of the most consistently good electronic labels worldwide, Desolat, Martin Buttrich is a performer who needs little introduction to fans of underground electronic music. This year Martin is celebrating his 20th year of DJing, which throughout its course has seen music releases on Cocoon, M-nus, Poker Flat and Planet E as well as performances in every reputable club in all corners of the globe. This 20th anniversary tour is calling at everywhere from Spybar in Chicago back to Leeds’ very own Mint Warehouse for the festival’s official after party, so with 2 chances to see him this Saturday, he absolutely cannot be missed. Jamie Jones - Arena: Paradise
Throughout the growth in house music’s popularity, Jamie Jones has been on top of the game at spotting and releasing cutting edge music from established producers and up and coming talent on his labels Hot Creations and Hot Trax. This music is the soundtrack to Jamie’s DJ sets that contain an eclectic mix of new school house and techno that works the crowd wherever he is playing. With a residency at DC10, a mecca for fans of the underground, Jamie has provided Ibiza’s clubbers with 3 years of prosperous Wednesday night parties, inviting guests of many qualities to play at one of the greatest clubs in the world, from Marco Carola to Disclosure and Derrick Carter to Hot Since 82.
Maceo Plex – Arena: Teknicolor, Distrikt & Deja Vu
With an immutably unique sound, Maceo Plex has conjured up a long line of club weapons that have been championed by most of the best in the business. From his low-slung house pleasantries like ‘Falling’ and ‘Can’t Leave You’ to the harder late night dance floor material under his Maetrik alias, donning synth leads that cut ridiculously deep, his music is of a constant high quality. A regular at both Circo Loco and Richie Hawtin’s Enter (listen to his most recent appearance below), Maceo Plex’s touring schedule has seen him play at every club worthwhile visiting this summer, and the autumn will be welcomed in with his performance in the Distrikt and Teknicolor arena at Mint Festival.
Hot Since 82 - Arena: Circular
Hailing from Leeds, Hot Since 82 is a local icon that has taken the house music world by storm in recent years. From releasing early hits like ‘Let It Ride’ that could be heard in clubs all over the UK, to being an internationally known DJ and producer, he has grown a huge amount and is remaining as one of the most in demand names of recent times. Hot Since 82 has released music on Noir, Moda Black and Get Physical and has been touring relentlessly this summer, with dates still to come at The Warehouse Project, Amsterdam’s Gashouder and Ushuaia in Ibiza.
MK - Arena: Prism
The number one selling house music icon MK is an artist who has been producing music since back in 1989. From the dance floor classics like ‘Burnin’ and ‘Freek’n You’ to the commercial remixes of today that receive heavy radio and club airplay, his music has been well loved for decades. Undoubtably he'll be one of the biggest pulls on the lineup, not one to miss.
Sander Van Doorn – Arena: Bitch
As a mainstay in the world of trance since debuting at number 32 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll of 2006, Dutch DJ and producer Sander Van Doorn is a highly in demand name all over the world. This summer he has been a regular at Amnesia for Lock N Load’s Tuesday party Together, as well as a plethora of festivals all over the world including Tomorrowland, Creamfields and EDC amongst many others. Sander Van Doorn’s debut album ‘Supernaturalistic’ that was released in 2008 established him amongst the many elite Dutch trance superstars, consequently providing him with a long string of high profile sell out shows and highly played records.
Paul Van Dyk – Arena: Digital Society & Goodgreef
The Grammy award winning superstar DJ Paul Van Dyk is one of the most well know electronic music producers in the world today. As trance gripped the white isle of Ibiza his long time big room classics such as the number one selling ‘For An Angel’ and ‘Crush’ grew to be anthems that now appear on countless different Best Of CDs that are regularly released by many established brands such as Ministry of Sound and Gatecrasher. Still today he is a favourite amongst many trance fans, and has appeared in Leeds for Digital Society a number of times. Now its time for him to return and take up arms as he plays in the Goodgreef & Digital Society arena at Mint Festival this weekend.
Goldie – Arena: Jungle Jam & Detonate
Our final pick for the 8 must see acts at Mint Festival 2014 is drum & bass hero Goldie. The Brit is known for being one of the countries innovators in the jungle and drum & bass scene, having released pioneering albums and tracks like the LP ‘Timeless’ and singles that are still played in clubs all over the world today. As a favourite for fans of breakbeat and drum & bass, Goldie is constantly touring, with dates at Fabric, Outlook Festival and Dimensions Festival this year amongst many others.
