Albion Records take their party to Wire on July 9th, with a 4 hour set from Italian DJ-producer Francesco Del Garda, assisted by two DJs well-equipped for a night of twisting electronics and murky depths voyaging.
Cosmically inclined and drawing on a heady blend of funk, house and techno, Del Garda has marked himself out as one of his nation’s finest minimalists, with his stripped down productions arguably best exemplified by Bubble EP, a collaboration with Seuil which this month gets a release on Eklo. A cocktail of swirling pads and water droplet electronics, the EP shows off the love of subtle flourishes and minute details that makes his DJing so engaging, with his recent mixes for Louche and Resident Advisor demonstrating precocious talent. He’ll be heading to Leeds for a follow up to his set at Distrikt in February, again returning in conjunction with the creative heads behind Albion Records.
Joining Del Garda is Peter Glasspool, a London selector with a snowballing band of followers behind him. Another specialist in warm minimal sounds, Glasspool has proven a favourite with some of the most knowledgeable crowds in London, offering up trippy, journeying sets which signal influences from Romania, Germany and closer to home. Supported by Albion’s own resident, Albion Forever, Glasspool and Del Garda could well serve up one of the best excursions into deep minimal and abstract territory that Leeds will see this summer.
