Alter made their debut in Leeds one year ago this February, with their celebratory party at Mint Club shaping up to be another great night in their ever evolving and exciting series of parties.
The brand first appeared at the opposite side of the city in the confines of Leeds best basement club, Wire. With Tin Man and Ste Roberts at the controls alongside residents Animist and Fidell, Alter got off to a great start and did the duties at the same venue a second time with Raudive and Matt Walsh a couple of months later.
It was in October last year however that Alter made their deepest mark yet with their first party at Mint Club. It was an outrageous affair with both Mathew Jonson and Efdemin coming over to put in stellar performances that kicked things up a notch for the organisers. After this had worked so well and brought an ecstatic crowd of music lovers, Alter followed suit by bringing another Ostgut resident in Answer Code Request, not to mention British stalwart Trevino and also Kamera back to Mint, with this party 1 year on set to be a continuation.
February 19th will see Alter return to Mint Club for a third time, joined by 2 guests of just a high calibre that will no doubt send an intimate crowd of Alter’s already faithful fans into a techno frenzy. First to do the duties is Ø [Phase], the London born DJ and producer who has been honing records for Token Records since 2007. His second album Alone In Time was released at the back end of last year and explored his uncharted sound even further from the debut LP Frame Of Reference, which was hailed by discerning techno fans and DJ peers all over the globe. Expect an energetic peak time performance from him here. The second artist to play at Alter’s 1st Birthday is Sandwell District staple Rrose. The enigmatic producer and DJ came to light after releasing 3 EPs on the label that see gradual, linked transformations evolving throughout her music. Check Waterfall for an idea of how intense this could get.
All in all an exciting prospect for Alter’s knees up that will see in another year of parties for the young but knowledgeable group behind the parties. There’s no doubt that Alter have helped bring back something Leeds has been missing for a while, here’s to us hoping it will continue for time to come.
