As part of the Audio Doughnuts 3rd Anniversary tour, AD & Apogee bring New York City’s, Martinez Brothers, Berlin’s DJ T and Audio Doughnuts very own signees Pusherman and Shox to The Garage in Leeds. Originally starting off as a label, they have grown into a substantial events brand branching out of London and taking their parties to the likes of the Dimensions Festival amongst others. If their 2nd Anniversary event, which hosted Roy Davis Jr, MK and Will Saul, is anything to go by, then this one is a must see for sure.
The Martinez Brothers grew up in a city and culture that helped innovate and mould the house music scene as it is now. Their major influence comes from their father who was a regular attendee at the Paradise Garage back in the 70’s and 80’s; so it comes as no surprise then that these brothers are major players on the DJ circuit. With their unique mix of house with deep burning chords and dubbed out techno they are known to cause a frenzy on the dance floor. They have released tracks on Objektivity, Crosstown Rebels and their newly spawned label Cuttin’ Headz, however, their Coup De Gras has to be the release of H 2 Da Izzo on Real Town last year and their remix of Green Velvet's Bigger Than Prince. These boys have a considerable knowledge and understanding of the scene, something so many DJs nowadays are lacking, and it’s because of this fact that we would not recommend you miss them.
Founder of the massive, Get Physical label, DJ T has been pushing the boundaries for over 20 years now. He is accomplished in almost every aspect of electronic music, be it: DJ; producer; journalist; label or club owner. His remix of Black Light Smokes – Lovework is nothing short of brilliant and his Boiler Room set earlier this year, in his hometown of Berlin, proves that this is someone who can put quite an inanimate crowd under his complete control with ease. To think that there was someone on this bill that could outshine the wealth of knowledge brought to the table by the Martinez Brothers is unbelievable.
Pusherman and Shox are both part of the Audio Doughnuts label and just because they are both relatively unknown, it does not mean to say that these boys can’t put on a show. Pusherman’s, Shake It Off and Shoxs’, Just Let It are both great tracks and are prime examples of Audio Doughnuts bass-driven musical ethos. Will Ward and Orgy Banton top off what is shaping up to be a great night!
